Unhook is built so that we know as little about you as possible. There is no account, no email address, no name and no password.
Your quiz answers, your reasons, your journal entries, anything you write in the urge protocol, and your notification preferences are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded.
Streak backup. When the app goes to the background it may send a small summary — the date your streak started, your longest streak, how many resets, your target length and a coarse progress bucket — to our server, identified by a random key generated on your device. We store a one-way hash of that key, not the key itself, so the record cannot be linked to you or to any other service. Summaries untouched for a year are deleted automatically.
Cohort counts. The app asks how many people are in the same stage as you. The answer is a single number; no personal data is sent to get it.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and Apple's receipt data, under its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
Notifications. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not run a push server.
We do not sell data, run third-party advertising SDKs, track you across apps, or collect analytics that identify you. If we add an optional feature that sends text to an AI service (such as a coach), it will say so on the screen before anything is sent, and that text is not used to train models.
Deleting the app removes everything on your device. To remove a server-side streak summary sooner than the automatic deletion, email cewmalainine@gmail.com.
Unhook is rated 13+ on the App Store and is not intended for anyone under 13.
